Barium Carbonate

Barium Carbonate is a white colored chemical compound which is known to have molecular formula BaCO3 and molar mass of 197.34 g/mol. It is extensively utilized as a key ingredient in ceramic glazes and also serves as fluxing & crystallizing agent. This compound is water soluble in nature and shows boiling point of about 1450 degrees Celsius. It can industrially be produced by treatment of barium sulfate with sodium carbonate at 60 to 70 degrees Celsius under controlled conditions. Barium Carbonate is also used for precipitation of soluble salts in earthenware & pottery industries. It is odorless in nature and has density of about 4.286 g/cm3.
