Alumina Hydrate

Alumina Hydrate is widely utilized as source of alumina in ceramic glazes, as fire retardant filler, and as antacid in pharmaceutical industry. It has molecular formula Al(OH)3 with molar mass of 78.00 g/mol and density of 2.42 g/cm3. This compound appears as white colored amorphous powder with melting point of 300 degrees Celsius and very low water solubility. It has ability to react with excessive acid present in stomach and provides relief from heartburn. Alumina Hydrate is also known to find application as desiccant & adsorbent in gas purification and is required for preparation of feedstock as well.
